March 2008

CJ and I are adopting! The new baby is named Chesney, aka Buttercup from her pictures. The 2 1/2 year old gal is scheduled to arrive Monday night. Chesney and Henry have the same father, and their mothers were sisters. We are looking forward to introducing her to the family.

Winter is fading. It is going to be in the thirties tonight, but better weather is on the way. In the meantime, the home team likes a nap when the sun pops out. Gracie and Henry are generally pals, as this naptime cuddle shows.

We got lucky on the weather yesterday. We had a day off and the sun was out. We decided to go to the Kanas City Zoo and wander around. It was a good choice. The people were more entertaining than the animals, of course. The zoo has made some striking improvements in many of the animal enclosures. The old zoo was depressing. The new zoo is spread out, which means a lot of hiking but more room for many of the animals. Take a look!

This guy was just basking in the sun!

The next two pictures of a warthog reflect the improvements possible through better equipment. The closeup is done with a 200 mm lens at 300 dpi. The other warthog shot is with a 50 mm general purpose lens at 200 dpi. I shot the Chimp photo with the 200 mm lens also. I think the difference shows.
